Here is a nice list of free software that I have used and recommend.
Free Anti-Virus applications like AVG Free, Avast, and Microsoft Security Essentials, you get what you pay for, better than nothing, limited protection. The best bargain I have found, especially for up to 3 computers is BitDefender, is usually in the top 10 Anti-Virus reviews, is a trial period, can try before buying.
